Exercise Challenges

Today I did my second ride in the iFit Japan series. I’m doing a challenge to complete this series this month. At the end, iFit will be mailing me some kind of a reward. I’m very excited. 😉

But for the life of me, I can’t find the iFit Japan playlist, so that I can follow the exercise series in order. Today my trainer greeted me with: “We’re on our eighth ride today and it’s one of our harder ones! Lots of incline and we’re going to be doing three and four minute intervals. Are you ready for this? Come on, let’s go!”

I think I heard my guardian angel laugh at me.

I’ve been bicycling still and working with a health coach to make cycling part of my regular routine. I’m starting an iFit challenge to do a 12 part Japan series. Today’s ride was in Kyoto and I got to see a Shinto shrine, some cemeteries, older buildings that were untouched by WWII and a beautiful lake. The landscape was really beautiful and peaceful.

Blogmas 2019

Blogmas: A Snarky Recipe for Christmas Happiness (Humor |Day 17)🎄

  1. Add one cup of NOT keeping up with the Joneses. You can do this, I know.
  2. Consume goodies until you’re full; stop afterwards. Over eating one day a year at Christmas won’t blow your diet–it’s the other 364 days of the year. See above.
  3. Get rid of presents or limit them. Play board games or do another free activity together instead with something you already have. This will release pressure and make the happiness biscuits of Christmas rise better.
  4. Dump all me-monster, narcissistic, whining relatives into garbage dump or hole behind house (whichever is easier) before gathering. It’ll make the holiday better, trust me. Poke them with a stick every four to six hours. If they still grumble, they’re fine.
  5. Add one well behaved dog to the mix. Pets make everything better.
  6. Do not pressure your spouse/partner into buying gifts for you that are over your shared budget. Same for the other holidays. Your gift should be being together.
  7. Avoid traditions for the sake of traditions. See fruitcake.
  8. Do offer free gifts of kindness. Such examples include shoveling snow for neighbors and not singing Christmas carols door to door terribly off-key. You will scare the birds and people will call the police to report a suspected murder. Honestly, move along.
  9. Feed the birds. Refill your bird feeders in the Winter. Otherwise some unhappy bird soldiers will take aim at your car windows. Three, two, one: take aim, my fellow warriors!
  10. Christmas does not equal materialism. Christmas equals Christ. If you celebrate differently, remember your meaning for the season. Don’t let money, pressure or anxiety win. And yes, I’m working on this one, too.

I did 45 minutes of cycling today at work. Working to catch up!

See you tomorrow for Day 18! Ker kaw.🎄🦉

Blogmas Day 10: Cycling & Ghostbusters 🚴‍♀️👻

Thirty minutes more to me…Hear that fitness bank jingle. When I started bicycling back in October, thirty minutes seemed to last forever. Now it goes by fairly quickly and I enjoy it more and more. If you’re trying a new fitness journey, hang in there. It does get better. Remember, sweat is fat crying.

Poor fat. Somebody get it a tissue. 🤧

Blogmas Day 9: Sock it to Me 🚴‍♀️🧦

Thirty more minutes goes into the cycling bank. I cycled once again with my favorite iFit trainer, Regan Pearce. I’ve adopted his native New Zealander saying he often says during our workouts: Kia kaha! It means stay strong. I want a fairy godmother (godfather?) version of him following  me around in life, motivating me while slipping me vegan snacks. I’m sure he doesn’t have anything better to do, am I right? 😉

Blogmas Day 6 & 7: Cycling & Peacock People 🦚🚴‍♀️

I ran out of time yesterday, so I doubled up my biking today. One hour and a few extra minutes for eating junk food yesterday. It was a weak moment.  Go team. 😁👍

Blogmas Day 5: Cycling & Beautiful, Alive Writing 🇨🇴🚴‍♀️

If I need a dose of energy lately, I blast the Latin or Mexican music. Tonight, I listened to a lot of Shakira. I rediscovered a song of hers I used to listen to on repeat from her Live and Off the Record CD: Ojos Así (Eyes like Those).

I love the passion of songs like these; it’s authentic and refreshing. The feelings are powerful and vulnerable. Art needs to be wild, free and true. I strive to write this way. No books in a can, lazy formula plots or characters with puppet strings. Your story must have life!

Blogmas Days 1-4: Cycling & A Funny Story🤛🚴‍♀️

Better late than never to get on the Blogmas wagon, right? November bicycling ended up mostly being a wash, but I’m back to bicycling steadily in December. We’ll play this Blogmas thing by ear and see where it goes. Just three weeks until Christmas!

Hear ye, hear ye. 📯Today marks Day 31 of 31 of the October cycling and writing challenge. To finish the challenge, I visited the hills around the Matterhorn and killed, nay, slayed the hills. I declare this challenge a success. 🥳

Author: October Cycling Challenge– Chamonix, France (Day 30/31)🚴‍♀️

Interval training equals happy training. Controlled pedaling, RPMs, RPE, cadence and all that lingo I’m still learning. 📝

Tomorrow’s the last day. I have ideas for November. But here’s a question for you writers: Apple or PC? Seriously now, I don’t want to see a fruit salad fight, but some honest, polite opinions.

See you tomorrow for Day 31, the last day of the biking challenge. Cheers.
