I’ve been doing a 12 part, Japan iFit Cycling series this month. It’s iFit’s challenge for the month of February. I am four workouts away from finishing. I am very excited to see what iFit mails me for completing the challenge. I’m hoping for a t-shirt but would be thrilled by a gold star sticker at this point. ⭐

For anyone looking to start exercising, here are three encouraging thoughts to consider:

  1. Exercise does get easier the more you do it. I mean this both mentally and physically. Eventually you will want to exercise. Working out makes you better and stronger, physically, mentally and spiritually. It’s a gift to your body as a whole in so many ways.
  2. Think of exercise as a privilege, not as something you have to do. I’m borrowing this from iFit trainer Ashley Paulson, the trainer leading the Japan series. This little mental switch is gold. It’s really helped me reframe my cycling.
  3. Another thing Ms. Paulson said: you will have good workouts and bad workouts. It’s okay. Give yourself grace and keep showing up. You can do this.

Exercise Challenges

Today I did my second ride in the iFit Japan series. I’m doing a challenge to complete this series this month. At the end, iFit will be mailing me some kind of a reward. I’m very excited. πŸ˜‰

But for the life of me, I can’t find the iFit Japan playlist, so that I can follow the exercise series in order. Today my trainer greeted me with: “We’re on our eighth ride today and it’s one of our harder ones! Lots of incline and we’re going to be doing three and four minute intervals. Are you ready for this? Come on, let’s go!”

I think I heard my guardian angel laugh at me.

I’ve been bicycling still and working with a health coach to make cycling part of my regular routine. I’m starting an iFit challenge to do a 12 part Japan series. Today’s ride was in Kyoto and I got to see a Shinto shrine, some cemeteries, older buildings that were untouched by WWII and a beautiful lake. The landscape was really beautiful and peaceful.Β

Blogmas: A Snarky Recipe for Christmas Happiness (Humor |Day 17)πŸŽ„

  1. Add one cup of NOT keeping up with the Joneses. You can do this, I know.
  2. Consume goodies until you’re full; stop afterwards. Over eating one day a year at Christmas won’t blow your diet–it’s the other 364 days of the year. See above.
  3. Get rid of presents or limit them. Play board games or do another free activity together instead with something you already have. This will release pressure and make the happiness biscuits of Christmas rise better.
  4. Dump all me-monster, narcissistic, whining relatives into garbage dump or hole behind house (whichever is easier) before gathering. It’ll make the holiday better, trust me. Poke them with a stick every four to six hours. If they still grumble, they’re fine.
  5. Add one well behaved dog to the mix. Pets make everything better.
  6. Do not pressure your spouse/partner into buying gifts for you that are over your shared budget. Same for the other holidays. Your gift should be being together.
  7. Avoid traditions for the sake of traditions. See fruitcake.
  8. Do offer free gifts of kindness. Such examples include shoveling snow for neighbors and not singing Christmas carols door to door terribly off-key. You will scare the birds and people will call the police to report a suspected murder. Honestly, move along.
  9. Feed the birds. Refill your bird feeders in the Winter. Otherwise some unhappy bird soldiers will take aim at your car windows. Three, two, one: take aim, my fellow warriors!
  10. Christmas does not equal materialism. Christmas equals Christ. If you celebrate differently, remember your meaning for the season. Don’t let money, pressure or anxiety win. And yes, I’m working on this one, too.

I did 45 minutes of cycling today at work. Working to catch up!

Brief Humor & Check-Ins, Introversion/INTJ

Author: Exercise for Happy Introverts 🚲🍁☺️ (Bike/iFit/Humor)

I’ve found I like doing most activities either alone or with my spouse, the Saint.* Being around people tends to drain my batteries quickly, with some exceptions. I’ve found many people like to peck at introverts and want to draw them out of their “shells” like some over eager mother robin. They ask intruding questions and wish to know everything about you within ten minutes of meeting. (This is why dungeons were created: to throw people like this into them.) Then they flit onto the next person, never to see you again until next year’s holiday function to re-live the level of Hell all over again. Hooray.

We introverts needs to take care of ourselves against the legions of rude, energy vampires that flit along us. I’ve found an exercise I really enjoy and wanted to share it with fellow birds of the flock. So get your groove together and let’s crack on!
