Hear ye, hear ye. 📯Today marks Day 31 of 31 of the October cycling and writing challenge. To finish the challenge, I visited the hills around the Matterhorn and killed, nay, slayed the hills. I declare this challenge a success. 🥳
Interval training equals happy training. Controlled pedaling, RPMs, RPE, cadence and all that lingo I’m still learning. 📝
Tomorrow’s the last day. I have ideas for November. But here’s a question for you writers: Apple or PC? Seriously now, I don’t want to see a fruit salad fight, but some honest, polite opinions.

Today I did 30 minutes watching YouTube, at my own pace. The more I bike, the easier it gets and the faster the time goes. It’s nice to feel the progress I’ve made.

Two main thoughts crossed my mind in today’s workout: 1.) We’re going to die and 2.) My iFit trainer is a very positive person. Several times we had to lift our bikes and walk (I watched and still pedaled from home, of course) while we navigated rock and slate on the paths. Instead of being angry or frustrated, my trainer complimented the terrain and how helpful it was on training us. How cool is that?
I’m taking that perspective with me. Even if I would’ve fallen off the mountain today, it would’ve been a good conversation starter with St. Peter. Along with the glacier we saw. Chamonix is a little piece of heaven.
We met cows upon our journey through France today. My trainer called every cow he met Daisy. That was easy to remember. We stopped and talked to one Daisy, but not too long as to not unduly interrupt our workout. One Daisy on the downhill return left us a present. How kind of her. 💩
I learned from my trainer today that I could have thighs like a silverback gorilla. I love this; this trainer needs to be my life coach, lovely New Zealander accent and all. The conversation could go something like this:
“Hey, writer! Do you want thighs like a silver back gorilla?”
“Oh boy, do I?!”
“Then hop on your bike, right-oh, and we’ll have you pounding your chest for bananas by New Year’s Eve.”
It could be a beautiful thing. 🦍🍌🥂
Today I did another Pandora day. This time I biked at a fast cadence through several songs with small breaks. About 15 minutes in or so, my endurance length started to decrease and I did a few smaller intervals. I found that the faster or more “oomph” a song’s beat was, the easier it was for me to keep a faster, consistent pace. 🚴♀️
I definitely built up some sweat and felt the burn. I did a one song warmup and a one song cool down at the end. I included some screenshots again of some of the songs I really enjoy that came on.
We’re quickly approaching the end of this challenge. I’m working on writing Chapter One of my novel as well. What do you think my reward should be at the end?

Today I did 15 minutes reading a book and 15 watching an old episode of The Babysitters Club. I reread the first six books of this series recently. Which babysitter did you most relate to?
Netflix I’ve heard is rebooting the series. Hopefully it’ll come out on DVD. Re-reading the books, I’ve picked up on just how much divorce, and how it affects children, is discussed. I find the honesty refreshing.

Did thirty minutes at my speed today watching one of my favorite YouTube channels: Squirmy and Grubs. They just made an exciting announcement today that they bought a house! I’ll leave a link to one of their favorite videos of mine below. Squirmy (or Shane) is also a best selling author.
